I am entering this blog in relation with an article I read in the September 30, 2008 edition of the Toronto Star. This article gives information pertaining to the escalating loss of the Amazon rain Forest located in Brazil.
Brazil is the biggest country in South America and they have the biggest part of the Amazon rain Forest located on their soil. The government of Brazil had previously stated that they were doing there best to decrease the harvesting of the rain forest and that deforestation is decreasing. This article states this is not true. Amazon destruction has jumped 228 per cent in august when compared with the same month a year ago. So it is hard to determine who is telling the truth when is comes to the destruction of the Amizon rain forest.
Brazil has been trying to give the image that they are doing the best that they can to decrease the destruction of the rain forest. This article states the opposite that the rain forest in Brazil is actually being deforested at a greater percent than in previous years. I believe that this article is genuine in the fact that that they are telling the truth about the government is turning a blind eye to illegal logging and instead blaming it on the rise in food prices. This sounds like a political type lie.
